1. Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and livechargemap.com ("we", "us"). They cover your use of livechargemap.com, its map, its pages, the developer portal and the API (together, the "service"). By using the service you accept these terms. If you use it on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these terms for that organisation.

Our privacy notice explains how we handle personal data and forms part of these terms.

2. The service

We show the locations and reported status of electric-vehicle charging stations, using data published by charge point operators and roaming hubs over the OCPI protocol. The map and pages are free to use. The API is offered under the plans described in the developer portal. We may change, add or remove features, and may limit or stop the service, at any time.

3. Accuracy of charging information

  • The data comes from third parties. We do not own, install, operate or maintain any charging station. We are not a party to any charging session, price or payment.
  • Status is a reported status. We label it as fresh, stale or unknown according to when the provider last confirmed it. A charger shown as available may be occupied, faulty, blocked or inaccessible when you arrive. Prices, opening hours, access rules and connector details may be missing or out of date.
  • Always check on site and with the operator before relying on a charger. This matters especially when your battery is low or a journey is time-critical. Do not use the map while driving.
  • If you spot a mistake, use "Report a problem" on the station page. We may correct, hide or remove listings at our discretion.

4. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • scrape, crawl or bulk-download the website or map endpoints. Use the API within its limits instead. Normal search-engine indexing that respects robots.txt is welcome.
  • get around or test rate limits, quotas, sign-up limits or security controls. This includes creating several free accounts, rotating IP addresses, or probing for vulnerabilities without our written permission.
  • interfere with or overload the service, or introduce malware.
  • submit false, misleading or unauthorised data, reports or feeds, or impersonate any person or organisation.
  • use the service to break any law, or to harass, track or harm anyone.
  • remove attribution, or present our data as your own.

Found a security issue? Please report it responsibly to [email protected].

5. Developer API

  • Accounts and keys. You must be 18 or older and give a working email address. Keep your API keys secret. You are responsible for all use of your keys. Revoke a key at once in the portal if it is exposed.
  • Free test plan. Each account gets 5 successful data requests for the life of the account. Pagination requests count separately, while errors and empty results do not count. The test plan is for evaluation only and may not be used in production.
  • Rate limits. Limits are documented in the portal and may change. We may throttle or block traffic that harms the service.
  • Integration and paid plans. These are governed by these terms and by any separate written agreement with us. If the two conflict, the written agreement prevails.
  • Use of data. You may display API data in your apps and services, with attribution (section 7). You may not resell or redistribute the raw dataset, or use it to build a competing charging-data API, without our written agreement.
  • Data-provider restrictions. We exclude data from providers that do not allow redistribution. If a provider withdraws permission, you must delete its cached data within 30 days of our notice.
  • Changes. We will try to give reasonable notice of breaking changes to API version 1. We may still change or withdraw endpoints when security, legal or provider requirements make it necessary.

6. Data providers (OCPI feeds)

If you connect a Locations feed, you confirm that:

  • you are authorised to share the data, either as the operator, as a roaming hub acting under the operator's permission, or with the operator's documented permission;
  • the data is, to the best of your knowledge, accurate and lawful;
  • the data does not include personal data, such as a private home address or a person's name, unless you have a lawful basis to publish it;
  • the licence and redistribution choices you make on submission are correct.

You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to fetch, store, normalise, combine, display and publish the data on the service. Where you have allowed redistribution, the licence also covers making the data available through our API. We will show the operator name you provide. We may decline, pause or remove a feed or listing at any time, and you may withdraw a feed at any time by contacting us. We remove the listings within a reasonable time after withdrawal.

Your access token is used only to fetch your Locations data. We store it encrypted and never display it. You can rotate or revoke it on your side at any time.

7. Intellectual property and attribution

  • We own the service, its design, its software and our compilation of the data. Station data remains subject to the rights of its providers.
  • Base maps: © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL), served by OpenFreeMap. Place search: OpenStreetMap Nominatim.
  • When you display data from the API, show "Charging data: LiveChargeMap" with a link to livechargemap.com where practical, together with any provider attribution included in the response.
  • You may link to any public page. Do not use our name or logo in a way that suggests endorsement without our permission.

8. Third-party services and links

The service relies on and links to third parties, including charging operators and their apps, map providers and Cloudflare. We are not responsible for their content, availability or practices. Your dealings with charging operators, including prices and payment, are between you and them.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent the law allows, the service and all data are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. This includes warranties of accuracy, availability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that any charger will be available, working or compatible with your vehicle.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows:

  • we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive losses, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or time. This includes losses caused by a charger being unavailable, faulty, wrongly located or wrongly described, or by a journey being delayed;
  • our total liability for all claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim and (b) INR 5,000.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Examples are liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, liability for fraud, and your statutory rights as a consumer where you live, including mandatory consumer protections in India, the EU and the UK.

11. Indemnity

If you use the API or submit a feed for business purposes, you will indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your breach of these terms, your data or your applications. This does not apply where we caused the claim.

12. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or end your access, including revoking API keys or pausing a feed, if you breach these terms, if your use creates risk or legal exposure, or if we discontinue the service. You may stop using the service at any time, and ask us to delete your account under the privacy notice. Sections 3, 7 and 9–15 survive termination.

13. Takedown and grievance contact

To report unlawful content, an intellectual-property concern or a privacy concern about a listing, write to [email protected] (Grievance Officer, LiveChargeMap). Include the page URL and the reason. Under India's Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it, we will acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and act on them within the periods those rules require.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Before starting any formal proceedings, please contact us so that we can try to resolve the dispute informally within 30 days. Subject to that, the courts of India have jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer living in the EU, the UK or another country whose law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts, or to rely on mandatory local consumer law, nothing in these terms takes that right away.

15. General

  • Changes. We may update these terms. We will post the new version here with a new effective date. For material changes affecting registered developers or data providers, we will give at least 14 days' notice by email. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept the change.
  • Entire agreement. These terms, the privacy notice and any written agreement with us are the whole agreement about the service.
  • Severability and waiver. If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a right is not a waiver of it.
  • Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent. We may transfer ours as part of a reorganisation or a sale of the service.
  • Contact. [email protected].
